Information on EC Pharmacy Access -
As part of the emergency contraception (EC) law in Massachusetts, specially trained pharmacists will be able to dispense EC to women of all ages through an agreement with a physician.

Specially trained pharmacists can provide EC to women who do not qualify for over-the-counter access, including:

  • Women under 18 years old
  • Women without ID
  • Women who need a prescription for insurance coverage

Here are some important things to keep in mind:

  • Click here for a list of drug stores with a specially trained pharmacist.

  • If you need EC now and there is not a participating pharmacy nearby, you can contact your health care provider or click here for more info.

  • Prescriptions for EC from your health care provider are still valid. You can fill your prescription at your local pharmacy whether or not they participate in the pharmacy access program.
